Ingredients

Ingredients*

  • AQUA [WATER]
    • Spring water or thermal water. Water from the Bunter sandstone strata of the Northern Black Forest. Transported from our own wells drilled at a depth of 165 m. Unchlorinated and naturally pure. For moisturizing the skin’s surface and as a solvent for water-soluble active substances and botanical extracts. In ProBalance, REGENERATION E and Ectoin Anti-Aging Fluid, we use the mineral-rich thermal water from Bad Wildbad instead of spring water.
  • LIMNANTHES ALBA SEED OIL [MEADOWFOAM]
    • Meadowfoam oil. This oil is derived from the seeds of the American meadowfoam. It is extremely resistant to oxidation and cares for the skin. The high concentration of long-chain fatty acids it contains makes the skin feel extremely silky, without leaving behind an unpleasantly oily film.
  • ALCOHOL
    • Pure, undenatured ethyl alcohol, potable alcohol. Obtained by fermenting plants containing starch or sugar. Alcohol is deployed as a solvent for extracts and various active ingredients. It also has a refreshing, astringent, toning and preservative effect, and stimulates the circulation.
  • BUTYROSPERMUM PARKII BUTTER [SHEA]
    • Shea butter. A solid plant fat obtained from the seeds of an African tree. It has very good care properties and is ideal for dry, irritated skin. A thickening agent in emulsions.
  • SQUALANE
    • Squalane. An oil component of plant origin similar to the squalene in the skin and therefore particularly well absorbed. Makes the skin feel soft, silky, but not greasy, and is very skin-compatible.
  • GLYCERYL STEARATE CITRATE
    • An emulsifier from regrowing raw materials: plant glycerin and plant stearic acid plus citric acid. Binds oil and water. Cares for the skin.
  • CAMELLIA JAPONICA SEED OIL
    • Camellia seed oil. Also known as tsubaki oil in Asia. Used traditionally to care for the skin and hair. Very rich, but non-sticky, it is especially good for dry skin.
  • GLYCERIN
    • Glycerin. A component of all fats and oils. Glycerin has a moisturizing effect. For BÖRLIND, it is derived solely from vegetable oil.
  • OLUS OIL
    • A vegetable oil. Cares for and smooths the skin.
  • PANTHENOL
    • D-panthenol/provitamin B5. Converts to pantothenic acid/vitamin B5 on the skin. It binds moisture and has a regenerating effect, and therefore wound-healing properties.
  • MICROCRYSTALLINE CELLULOSE
    • Microcrystalline cellulose. Produced by hydrolysis of plant cellulose. A carrier for active ingredients/extracts in powder form.
  • GLYCERYL CAPRYLATE
    • A surfactant/co-emulsifier. Produced from plant glycerin and plant fatty acids. It has moisturizing, emulsifying and caring properties.
  • SODIUM HYALURONATE
    • Sodium salt of hyaluronic acid. Sodium hyaluronate has an outstanding ability to bind water. It moisturizes and smooths. For BÖRLIND, it comes solely from superior, sustainable, vegan and GMO-free (GMO = genetically modified organisms) biotechnological production, in which plant material and ethanol are fermented with the aid of lactic acid bacteria.
  • XANTHAN GUM
    • Xanthan. A polysaccharide produced by microorganisms from plant substrates containing sugar. A gelling/thickening agent that also stabilizes emulsions.
  • SODIUM STEAROYL GLUTAMATE
    • A (co-)emulsifier. Used in addition to other emulsifiers in low concentration to improve the long-term stability of emulsions.
  • BETAINE
    • Betaine. Obtained from sugar beet. Betaine attaches itself to the keratin (a structural protein) of the hair and skin, and has a moisturizing effect. It also reduces static in the hair.
  • TOCOPHERYL ACETATE
    • Tocopheryl acetate/provitamin E. A more stable form of vitamin E. When it is applied to the skin, it becomes vitamin E by enzymatic conversion, and then takes its antioxidant effect.
  • ECTOIN
    • Ectoin. An amino acid produced by microorganisms to protect themselves against dehydration from heat, UV radiation and high salt concentrations. In cosmetics, it also has this protective function for the skin, and is therefore ideal for sunscreen products and products for dry and sensitive skin.
  • SMITHSONITE EXTRACT
    • Zinc extract. Zinc is an important trace element that supports regeneration of the skin, and its immune system. For DADO SENS, it is extracted from mineral rocks.
  • CAMELINA SATIVA SEED OIL
    • Camelina seed oil. High in the omega unsaturated fatty acids (also known as vitamin F). Ideal for the care of dry skin, because the unsaturated fatty acids strengthen the skin barrier, thus increasing skin elasticity and reducing transepidermal water loss.
  • CALCIUM ALGINATE
    • Calcium salt of alginic acid. A polysaccharide obtained from brown algae. Used as a natural gelling agent.
  • GLYCINE SOJA OIL [SOYBEAN]
    • Soybean oil. A vegetable oil that cares for the skin and makes it supple.
  • ASCORBYL PALMITATE
    • Fat-soluble form of vitamin C. This fat-soluble form of vitamin C is more light- and temperature-resistant, and is converted into free vitamin C in the skin. It has an antioxidant effect, counteracts skin aging caused by free radicals and prevents emulsions from becoming rancid.
  • LECITHIN
    • Lecithin. A substance similar to fat, with emulsifying properties. Can be found in vegetable oils from which it is derived. It cares for the skin and hair, and improves combability. Special lecithins can be made into liposomes in which active ingredients can be encapsulated and protected, improving their bioavailability when applied to the skin.
  • STEARYL GLYCYRRHETINATE
    • A fatty acid of glycyrrhizinic acid. An active ingredient in oil-soluble form obtained from licorice root. Alleviates irritation.
  • TOCOPHEROL
    • Vitamin E. Can be found in many vegetable oils. As an antioxidant it prevents these from becoming rancid. It also stabilizes cosmetics and protects the skin against free radicals induced by UV radiation, for example, thus forestalling premature, environment-related skin aging.
  • HYDROGENATED PALM GLYCERIDES CITRATE
    • An emulsifier from regrowing raw materials: plant glycerin and vegetable fat plus citric acid. Binds oil and water. Cares for the skin.
  • BIOTIN
    • Biotin/vitamin B7/vitamin B8/vitamin H. A vitamin of the B complex, important for the protein and fat metabolism of the cells. It is considered to be a skin-protection vitamin. Deficiencies result in dull, tired-looking skin, brittle nails, hair damage and hair loss.
  • CITRIC ACID
    • Citric acid. Derived by fermentation from corn substrate. Used to regulate the pH value of cosmetics.
