Ingredients

Ingredients*

  • AQUA [WATER]
    • Spring water or thermal water. Water from the Bunter sandstone strata of the Northern Black Forest. Transported from our own wells drilled at a depth of 165 m. Unchlorinated and naturally pure. For moisturizing the skin’s surface and as a solvent for water-soluble active substances and botanical extracts. In ProBalance, REGENERATION E and Ectoin Anti-Aging Fluid, we use the mineral-rich thermal water from Bad Wildbad instead of spring water.
  • LIMNANTHES ALBA SEED OIL [MEADOWFOAM]
    • Meadowfoam oil. This oil is derived from the seeds of the American meadowfoam. It is extremely resistant to oxidation and cares for the skin. The high concentration of long-chain fatty acids it contains makes the skin feel extremely silky, without leaving behind an unpleasantly oily film.
  • TRICAPRYLIN
    • A fatty acid ester. Derived from plant glycerin and plant caprylic acid. It offers exceptional skin-compatibility, is rapidly absorbed and non-greasy, and feels a little like silicone on the skin.
  • GLYCERYL CITRATE/LACTATE/LINOLEATE/OLEATE
    • An emulsifier from regrowing raw materials: plant fatty acids, citric acid and lactic acid. Binds oil and water in emulsions and leaves the skin feeling pleasant.
  • GLYCERIN
    • Glycerin. A component of all fats and oils. Glycerin has a moisturizing effect. For BÖRLIND, it is derived solely from vegetable oil.
  • SORBITOL
    • Sorbitol. A natural sugar alcohol of plant origin that occurs naturally in many fruits. Also used in foodstuffs. Has a moisturizing and moisture-retaining effect.
  • PANTHENOL
    • D-panthenol/provitamin B5. Converts to pantothenic acid/vitamin B5 on the skin. It binds moisture and has a regenerating effect, and therefore wound-healing properties.
  • ETHYLHEXYL STEARATE
    • Ethylhexyl stearate. An oil component of plant origin that cares for the skin. It is rapidly absorbed and non-greasy.
  • BETAINE
    • Betaine. Obtained from sugar beet. Betaine attaches itself to the keratin (a structural protein) of the hair and skin, and has a moisturizing effect. It also reduces static in the hair.
  • SUCROSE STEARATE
    • An emulsifier from regrowing raw materials: cane or beet sugar and plant fatty acids from vegetable oil. Binds oil and water. Cares for and moisturizes the skin.
  • PHENOXYETHANOL
    • Phenoxyethanol. A nature-identical preservative. It occurs naturally in green tea and chicory.
  • CHOLESTERYL HYDROXYSTEARATE
    • An emulsifier. Derived from cholesterol and hydroxy stearic acid. Able to bind large amounts of water and forms a protective film on the surface of the skin.
  • ALCOHOL
    • Pure, undenatured ethyl alcohol, potable alcohol. Obtained by fermenting plants containing starch or sugar. Alcohol is deployed as a solvent for extracts and various active ingredients. It also has a refreshing, astringent, toning and preservative effect, and stimulates the circulation.
  • BENZYL ALCOHOL
    • Benzyl alcohol. A declarable fragrance contained in perfume compositions, and a preservative.
  • POTASSIUM CETYL PHOSPHATE
    • A (co-)emulsifier. Used in addition to other emulsifiers in low concentration to improve the long-term stability of emulsions.
  • HYDROGENATED STARCH HYDROLYSATE
    • Hydrogenated starch hydrolysates. Hydrogenated starch hydrolysates are moisturizing sugar compounds that are extracted from vegetable starch. They are used as carriers and protective materials for other active substances.
  • SMITHSONITE EXTRACT
    • Zinc extract. Zinc is an important trace element that supports regeneration of the skin, and its immune system. For DADO SENS, it is extracted from mineral rocks.
  • STEARYL GLYCYRRHETINATE
    • A fatty acid of glycyrrhizinic acid. An active ingredient in oil-soluble form obtained from licorice root. Alleviates irritation.
  • ALLANTOIN
    • Allantoin. A natural active ingredient found in comfrey and horse chestnut, for example. It has a tissue-regenerating effect and alleviates irritation.
  • BISABOLOL
    • (Alpha-)bisabolol. An anti-inflammatory, skin-soothing ingredient with an antimicrobial effect. Can be found in essential bergamot oil, chamomile oil and the oil of the candeia tree (vanillosmopsis erythropappa). For BÖRLIND, only bisabolol from sustainable, FSC-certified candeia plantations is used, in order to protect the Brazilian highland rainforests.
  • POTASSIUM SORBATE
    • Potassium sorbate. A nature-identical preservative. It occurs naturally in the unripe fruits of the rowan.
  • TOCOPHERYL ACETATE
    • Tocopheryl acetate/provitamin E. A more stable form of vitamin E. When it is applied to the skin, it becomes vitamin E by enzymatic conversion, and then takes its antioxidant effect.
  • GLYCINE SOJA OIL [SOYBEAN]
    • Soybean oil. A vegetable oil that cares for the skin and makes it supple.
  • AVENA SATIVA KERNEL EXTRACT [OAT]
    • Oat extract. This extract from the kernels of the oat has a skin-soothing and wound-healing effect.
  • ALOE BARBADENSIS LEAF JUICE POWDER
    • Aloe vera from organic farming. 100 kg of juice yields 0.5 kg of spray-dried aloe powder. The powder does not need to be preserved. Moisturizes and soothes the skin.
  • CITRIC ACID
    • Citric acid. Derived by fermentation from corn substrate. Used to regulate the pH value of cosmetics.
  • HELIOTROPINE
    • Heliotropine. A skin-soothing ingredient of plant origin with a pleasantly subtle vanilla-like fragrance.
  • ASCORBYL PALMITATE
    • Fat-soluble form of vitamin C. This fat-soluble form of vitamin C is more light- and temperature-resistant, and is converted into free vitamin C in the skin. It has an antioxidant effect, counteracts skin aging caused by free radicals and prevents emulsions from becoming rancid.
  • LECITHIN
    • Lecithin. A substance similar to fat, with emulsifying properties. Can be found in vegetable oils from which it is derived. It cares for the skin and hair, and improves combability. Special lecithins can be made into liposomes in which active ingredients can be encapsulated and protected, improving their bioavailability when applied to the skin.
  • CERAMIDE NP
    • Ceramides. Important components of the lipids in the stratum corneum of human skin. Stored in the barrier layer, they prevent the skin from drying out. Ceramides are derived from yeast by biotechnological means. Their structure corresponds exactly to that of the ceramides found in human skin.
  • TOCOPHEROL
    • Vitamin E. Can be found in many vegetable oils. As an antioxidant it prevents these from becoming rancid. It also stabilizes cosmetics and protects the skin against free radicals induced by UV radiation, for example, thus forestalling premature, environment-related skin aging.
  • CERAMIDE AP
    • Ceramides. Important components of the lipids in the stratum corneum of human skin. Stored in the barrier layer, they prevent the skin from drying out. Ceramides are derived from yeast by biotechnological means. Their structure corresponds exactly to that of the ceramides found in human skin.
